Wywodzi się od tzw. Kontynentalnych Marines jako części British
Royal Marines, w obecnym kształcie znany jest od 1868. Obecnie
emblemat przedstawia kule ziemska oparta na kotwicy i
podtrzymywana przez orła .Ziemia opasana jest wstęgą z łacińskim
napisem "Semper Fidelis" oznaczającym Zawsze Wierni. Korpusówka
USMC nie posiada wstęgi.
